The Australasian Grebe, while considered rare, is now a more common sight on our lakes in the South Island of New Zealand, with the highest numbers in the Canterburyand Otago Regions. This image was taken when fog was right to lake level and this Grebe materialised from the gloom. I love how there is no horizon and the animal appears to float in space.
